Jade marks are how you highlight and annotate documents in Jade. They work on all documents including your own submissions, and they’re stored in your personal library, so you’ll never lose one.

So how do you actually make one? Here we have a case, and we’ve found a passage that looks helpful to our research. Simply highlight the passage and click “Add JADEMark” in the popup.

You can add your own annotation and fill it however you see fit. You can also share your annotations with other users, but we’ll discuss this more in our “Sharing through Jade’ video.

These annotations are also totally customisable for your benefit, so you can colour code to your own system, and you can also add ‘tags’ to group relevant jade marks into specific searchable groups. You can name these tags whatever you like, and they’ll still be searchable later on.

You can find your JADEMarks under the ‘JADEMarks’ side tab of the Jade Browser. Here we have the two annotations from before. You’ll notice they’re of the same paragraph, that’s because JADE saves the entire paragraph to be viewed in context, with your specific highlights on the document.

You might remember the aforementioned tags. These will become immensely helpful when you have numerous JADEMarks in your library and you’re searching for one in particular.

Click “show advanced filters” and you’ll be able to search for JADEMarks in a similar way to searching through the Advanced search feature.

As you can see, all your personal tags are stored for search by you.
