Similarity Tool

Unlock visualisation tools to find similar cases and analyse the relationships between them.

Trying to find, collate and map the relationships between cases?

Quickly identify cases with shared citations and catchwords so you can focus your time analysing their similarities using JADE's Similarity Tool.

With your primary case selected in the JADE Browser, locate the feature icons at the top left of the page and click the visualisations icon represented by three circles arranged in a triangle.

  • Select 'Similarity'. Your primary case is represented by the number 1, and the most similar cases are represented by the numbers 2 and 3.
  • Scroll down to the visual tool. Each coloured dot is a case. Click and drag the case you wish to review close to your primary case. They may need a moment to settle.
  • Using your mouse, draw a box around the number 1, and the case you want to compare to see all the commonalities and click on any you wish to review.

You can leverage JADE's other Case Law Visualisation tools, such as determining whether the case your reviewing is still good law with the Precedent Tracker, and mapping out any subsequent citations with Parallel Citations.
